Must-Knows about Nyingchi Tours in 2026

Jun 30, 2026 5:42 By lewis

The popularity of Nyingchi is no less than that of Lhasa. Since the opening of the Lhasa-Nyingchi railway line in 2021, the tourism industry in Nyingchi has been on the rise.

The Peak Tourist Season in Nyingchi Comes Earlier than in Other Places

The annual Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival marks the arrival of the peach blossom peak season, which is concentrated from March 20th to April 15th. While other places in Tibet are still gradually recovering from winter, Nyingchi has already begun to welcome the arrival of spring. The coming of the peak tourist season in March means that tourists would better start preparing from February.

Must-Knows about Nyingchi Tours in 2026

There Are Frequent Direct Flights to Nyingchi from Chinese Gateway Cities

Although there are not as many direct flights here as in Lhasa, the direct flights to Nyingchi Milin Airport are all of high quality. At present, there are direct flights from Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Guangzhou and Beijing to Nyingchi. The most frequent flights are from Chengdu, followed by those departing from Chongqing, and the least frequent are seasonal flights departing from Guangzhou.

Must-Knows about Nyingchi Tours in 2026

The Winter in Nyingchi Is Not Extremely Cold

Thanks to the warm and humid air current brought by the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, the average winter daytime temperature in Nyingchi mostly remains between 15℃ and 20℃. Even in winter, it's so warm. Nyingchi is truly a place suitable for tourism all year round.

The Nyingchi Gongbu New Year Comes Earlier than in Other Places

The Gongbu area mainly refers to the area around Bayi District, Gongbujiangda County and Milin City within Nyingchi City. The Gongbu New Year here is held on October 1st of the Tibetan calendar, two months earlier than in other places. Converted to the Gregorian calendar, it is usually held between November and December.

Must-Knows about Nyingchi Tours in 2026

Nyingchi Is a Family-Friendly Tourist Destination

The altitude of 3,000 meters, the gentle terrain and the distribution of many scenic spots for sightseeing and light hiking in Nyingchi are all very suitable for the elderly and children on family trips. Here, the forest coverage rate is extremely high, and the oxygen content in the air is also pleasing. With the maturity of the tourist routes and the improvement of the tourism facilities, Nyingchi is really worth your visit.

What Documents Are Require for a Nyingchi Tour?

Chinese Visa, Tibet Travel Permit and passport are required for any Tibet trip. So does a Nyingchi tour. Beyond these, a Nyingchi tour also asks for Aliens' Travel Permit and Military Permit as it involves some restricted areas.

Conclusion

The 2027 Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival is already on its way. Opportunities always favor those who are well-prepared!

Train booking

We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

Best time to travel for the Linka festival

Hey, I'm looking to travel to the Linka festival with my partner. When is the best time to go this year? Thanks!

Answered by Tibet Tour team

Dear Guest,

Hope you are having a wonderful day! I was delighted to receive your inquiry about experiencing a Tibetan "Linka" with your partner.

Welcome to Tibet Tour Team! With over 20 years of experience in Tibetan travel, we have helped thousands of international travelers explore the beauty and culture of this incredible region. It would be my great pleasure to introduce you and your wife to Tibet and the unique tradition of "Linka."

In Tibetan, "Linka" refers to a park, grassland, or wooded area, while "guo Linka" means spending time there—eating, drinking tea, singing, chatting, and relaxing. It’s a beloved weekend or festive activity among Tibetans.

You asked about the best time of year to experience Linka.Let me walk you through the following aspects:

1. Best Season & Why

Linka is all about leisurely relaxing in meadows or wooded areas under the sun. For this reason, July and August are highly recommended. During these months, the weather is pleasant, the scenery is stunning, and you can enjoy ample sunshine, fresh air, and brilliant blue skies—perfect for fully immersing in the refreshing high-altitude atmosphere.

Additionally, August hosts the Shoton Festival, one of Tibet’s most important traditional celebrations. Locals typically enjoy about a week of holiday, during which residents of Lhasa gather in parks like Norbulingka and Zongjiao Lukang to set up tents, enjoy yogurt, sing, dance, and celebrate Tibetan outdoor culture. You’ll even get to try special Tibetan yogurt, which is deliciously tangy and sweet—in fact, “Shoton” means “yogurt feast” in Tibetan!

2. Recommended Itinerary

Considering your interest in Linka and the recommendation above, I am eager to suggest our specially designed 10-Day Lhasa, Yamdrok Lake, Shigatse & Everest Linka Tour during Shoton Festival. This is a one-time-only departure timed perfectly with the festival. The departure date for this itinerary is August 10th (this is the day you arrive in Lhasa).

More detailed information about the Lingka Festival tour itinerary and introduction has been sent to you by email. Please kindly check your inbox. Thank you very much.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April

Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.

Dear Shek, Thank you for reaching out and we are here to help. For Hong Kong residents that want to travel to Tibet, a Tibet Travel permit is not required, as long as you have the HKSAR passport, as well as the Home Return Permit (HRP). Officially known as the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, the HRP can be issued to Chinese nationals that are permanent residents of Hong Kong in order to enter mainland China. Cheers!

Is Kailash Mansarovar Trip open for Indian Passport Holder?

Is it open for Indian Passport Holder?

Jun 20, 2024 2:30
Answered by Tibet Tour team

Dear Nayak, Thank you for reaching out! We're here to help. Well, for Indian passport holders who plan to visit Mt. Kailash, you have to book your Tibet tour with a licensed Nepali or Indian travel agency that is authorized by the Foreign Affairs Office of TAR or Pilgrim Center (also known as Tibet-India Pilgrim Reception Center) to get your Tibet Travel Permit and run your Tibet tour. If you are an Indian origin who lives outside of India and have another passport, let's say a US or Canadian passport, in this case, we can help you get the Tibet Travel Permit and other travel documents and arrange the Mt. Kailash tours for you.

Dear Azmi, Thanks for your inquiry. A viable option is to fly from HK to Chengdu and later take Chengdu-Lhasa train to Lhasa.
