1. What is the best season to visit Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan?
Generally speaking, the best months to visit Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan together are April, May, September, and October. Winter, from November to February, also offers a favorable climate for exploring these Himalayan destinations.
However, it’s important to note that mid-June to August is the rainy season, especially in Nepal and Bhutan. The hot and humid weather during this period may not be pleasant for outdoor activities. Sometimes, the mountain roads may also be damaged by heavy rain.
-
2. Can I afford the tour to Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan?
Yes, indeed. However, given the duration, hotels, travel documents, and transportation, you need thorough preparation, physically, mentally, and economically. The expenditure in Nepal is the cheapest, while in Tibet, the most budgeted way to travel is to join a group tour to share the transfer and tour guide services with group members. The cost of a private trip in Tibet is much higher than a group tour, as you need to travel with a guide and a driver during your days in Tibet.
In Bhutan, according to law, it is mandatory to spend US$250 per day, however, it covers almost all the costs like hotel, transportation, guide, etc.
-
3. Can I travel from Tibet to Bhutan directly?
Currently, there is no direct from Tibet to Bhutan as well. You need to get to Kathmandu from Tibet, either by flight or overland, then, take a flight from Kathmandu to Paro, Bhutan.
-
4. What travel documents should I prepare in advance?
It is convenient to get a Nepal Visa On Arrival once you pass the land border or land at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport.
To visit Tibet, you need to obtain a Chinese Visa and apply for the Tibet Travel Permit in advance. If you enter Tibet from the mainland of China, you require a standard Chinese Visa. If entering from Nepal, you need to apply for a special Group Tourist Visa through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. To obtain your Tibet Permit, you should pre-book a Tibet tour with a local travel agency, which will apply for the permit on your behalf.
Similarly, visiting Bhutan also requires an organized tour through a local travel agency. Only by booking a pre-arranged tour can you obtain the Bhutan Visa, as it is always included in the tour package. It is suggested to book your Nepal Tibet Bhutan tour at least one month in advance to allow sufficient time to arrange all necessary documents for smooth travel.
