Enjoy Free Pick-Up and Drop-Off Service between Lhasa Railway Station/Airport and Your Hotel

Jul 17, 2026 11:42 By

Every tourist who gets off the train or plane has gone through a long and tiring journey. I understand the eagerness of every tourist to head to the hotel and rest, and I also hope that all tourists can be fully prepared and full of energy to face the upcoming journey the next day. Here are some basic pieces of information that can both get rid of your worries help get ready.

Enjoy Free Pick-Up and Drop-Off Service between Lhasa Railway Station/Airport and Your Hotel

Opt for the Free Airport Transfer Provided by Our Travel Agency

According to the pre-planned arrangements, after you get off the plane at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, you will head directly to your hotel in Lhasa. It's about a 60-kilometer drive from Lhasa Gonggar Airport to the city center of Lhasa, and this drive is estimated to take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.

Of course, you can choose a taxi that comes on demand or use the ride-hailing services of Gaode Dache and Didi Chuxing. However, the cost is not cheap either. Generally, it costs 200 yuan one time. During peak season, the price may increase slightly.

Alternatively, airport shuttle bus is a more economical option. You can go to the offline window at Terminal 3 of Lhasa Gongga Airport to buy this bus ticket. The ticket price is 30 yuan, which is much cheaper than taking a taxi. These shuttle buses usually wait until they are fully occupied before departing for the terminal station, the Civil Aviation Ticket Hall in the Chengguan District, Lhasa City, which takes about 70 minutes. Every day, the earliest departure time of the airport bus is 4:30 a.m., with a departure approximately every 15 minutes, and the service is suspended around 7 p.m. It should be noted that the terminal station is approximately 1 kilometer away from the Potala Palace. To get to the exact location of your hotel from where you get off, you need to take a taxi. The cost varies depending on the distance.

Next, I'd like to introduce the third option, which is also the one I most recommend, and that is to choose the free airport transfer service we offer. Both airport pick-up and drop-off services are actually included in our Tibet travel package and no additional charges will be incurred. This is a point-to-point service that seamlessly takes you from Lhasa Gongga Airport to your hotel. Since our tour guide and dedicated driver will come to pick you up, you will be able to get familiar with the tour guide right on the car. As we also need to take into account the rest of the tour guide and the driver, we can only provide four airport pick-up services on the departure day. The departure times are 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. If you miss these time points, it means you have to choose to take a taxi or a bus as mentioned above, or pay a separate airport pick-up fee of 400 yuan per trip to get an exclusive and private transfer. On the seeing-off day, our travel agency offers three airport drop-off services. The time points are 6:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Similarly, you can also choose to take a taxi or a bus to the airport as an alternative choice.

Make the Most of the Free Railway Station Transfer Offered by Our travel Agency

When the topic turns to the railway station, things become much simpler, as the Lhasa railway station is only 10 kilometers away from the urban area of Lhasa. Similarly, our travel agency also offers free pick-up and drop-off services to help you travel between the railway station and the hotel in Lhasa. The fare for a taxi is generally around 30 to 40 yuan, while a public bus costs about 1 yuan.

Conclusion

When choosing a flight or train schedule, don't forget to pay attention to the arrival or departure time, which is best in line with the service time provided by our travel agency!

We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

Best time to travel for the Linka festival

Hey, I'm looking to travel to the Linka festival with my partner. When is the best time to go this year? Thanks!

Dear Guest,

Hope you are having a wonderful day! I was delighted to receive your inquiry about experiencing a Tibetan "Linka" with your partner.

Welcome to Tibet Tour Team! With over 20 years of experience in Tibetan travel, we have helped thousands of international travelers explore the beauty and culture of this incredible region. It would be my great pleasure to introduce you and your wife to Tibet and the unique tradition of "Linka."

In Tibetan, "Linka" refers to a park, grassland, or wooded area, while "guo Linka" means spending time there—eating, drinking tea, singing, chatting, and relaxing. It’s a beloved weekend or festive activity among Tibetans.

You asked about the best time of year to experience Linka.Let me walk you through the following aspects:

1. Best Season & Why

Linka is all about leisurely relaxing in meadows or wooded areas under the sun. For this reason, July and August are highly recommended. During these months, the weather is pleasant, the scenery is stunning, and you can enjoy ample sunshine, fresh air, and brilliant blue skies—perfect for fully immersing in the refreshing high-altitude atmosphere.

Additionally, August hosts the Shoton Festival, one of Tibet’s most important traditional celebrations. Locals typically enjoy about a week of holiday, during which residents of Lhasa gather in parks like Norbulingka and Zongjiao Lukang to set up tents, enjoy yogurt, sing, dance, and celebrate Tibetan outdoor culture. You’ll even get to try special Tibetan yogurt, which is deliciously tangy and sweet—in fact, “Shoton” means “yogurt feast” in Tibetan!

2. Recommended Itinerary

Considering your interest in Linka and the recommendation above, I am eager to suggest our specially designed 10-Day Lhasa, Yamdrok Lake, Shigatse & Everest Linka Tour during Shoton Festival. This is a one-time-only departure timed perfectly with the festival. The departure date for this itinerary is August 10th (this is the day you arrive in Lhasa).

More detailed information about the Lingka Festival tour itinerary and introduction has been sent to you by email. Please kindly check your inbox. Thank you very much.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April

Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.

Dear Shek, Thank you for reaching out and we are here to help. For Hong Kong residents that want to travel to Tibet, a Tibet Travel permit is not required, as long as you have the HKSAR passport, as well as the Home Return Permit (HRP). Officially known as the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, the HRP can be issued to Chinese nationals that are permanent residents of Hong Kong in order to enter mainland China. Cheers!

Is it open for Indian Passport Holder?

Answered by Tibet Tour team

Dear Nayak, Thank you for reaching out! We're here to help. Well, for Indian passport holders who plan to visit Mt. Kailash, you have to book your Tibet tour with a licensed Nepali or Indian travel agency that is authorized by the Foreign Affairs Office of TAR or Pilgrim Center (also known as Tibet-India Pilgrim Reception Center) to get your Tibet Travel Permit and run your Tibet tour. If you are an Indian origin who lives outside of India and have another passport, let's say a US or Canadian passport, in this case, we can help you get the Tibet Travel Permit and other travel documents and arrange the Mt. Kailash tours for you.
