Is Tibet a Safe Destination for Children?
In terms of altitude alone, the average altitude of 4,000 meters in Tibet sounds kind of unfavorable for children who have been living in plain areas for a long time. In fact, specific problems need to be analyzed specifically.
Age Consideration for Traveling to Tibet
It is highly not recommended for children aged three and under to visit Tibet. The reasons are as follows: Firstly, the symptoms of altitude sickness in children may not be typical and may differ from those in adults. Secondly, children are unable to express their needs clearly. Thirdly, our travel agency needs to ensure the safety of tourists, so we definitely do not accept children aged three and under.
Generally speaking, 12 years old and above is a relatively safe age range. Children under the age of twelve need to follow the doctor's advice before deciding whether to go to Tibet. Better safe than sorry. Additionally, under no circumstances are children allowed to travel alone. The entire journey of a child requires at least one adult tourist to accompany and look after them.

Not All the Destinations in Tibet Are Suitable for Children
The public security situation throughout Tibet is very good, and all the scenic spots open to tourists have been strictly managed. However, safety does not mean suitability. There are indeed some scenic spots that children tourists need to avoid.
Opt for Low-Altitude Areas as a Priority
The overall altitude trend of Tibet shows the characteristics of being lower in the southeast and higher in the northwest. Lhasa and Nyingchi can always be regarded as the solid choices. Lhasa provide the most convenient transportation network and top-notch medical technology, while Nyingchi is famous for high oxygen content and the lowest average altitude across Tibet. All these can relieve your of some worries about altitude sickness. Plus, since both Nyingchi and Lhasa are among the most developed regions in Tibet, the tourism resources, accommodation resources, food resources and shopping resources here are all the best, which can enable children to have more fun during this trip.

Pay Attention to a Healthy Diet
Guide your children to eat more iron-rich foods such as lean meat, beans and spinach to enhance oxygen-carrying capacity. Eat more fruits such as apples, kiwis and strawberries from the local. Eat an appropriate amount of high-protein foods such as eggs and milk to enhance body's resistance. Drink plenty of water. Try not to take children to street stalls. Instead, go to regular restaurants. You can also ask the tour guide on the group for directions on the most reliable restaurants nearby and tell them what flavors you want.

Conclusion
Please tell our travel consultants about you and your child's needs. Our travel consultants can always accurately capture the details that our clients need and spare no effort to create the most suitable route for you.

Train booking
We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
