Can You Find Wi-Fi in Remote Tibetan Towns?
While in Lhasa, Shigatse, or Nyingchi, you'll find free Wi-Fi in almost every hotel, restaurant, and even coffee shops. It's fast enough for video calls and sharing photos of Potala Palace. But here's the catch: when you head to remote areas like Ngari Prefecture—home to the sacred Mount Kailash—Wi-Fi gets really limited. If you're planning a Kailash kora or visiting nearby holy lakes, don't expect to stay connected 24/7.

Where to Find Wi-Fi around Mount Kailash
Mount Kailash and its surrounding areas are high-altitude and remote, so Wi-Fi is scarce—but not impossible to find. Here's your go-to guide:
First, Darchen Town—the starting point for the Kailash kora. This small town is built for travelers, so a handful of guesthouses and restaurants offer free Wi-Fi. It's not lightning-fast, but it works for texts, checking your kora itinerary, or letting family know you're safe.

Next, along the kora route. Most of the trail has no Wi-Fi at all—you'll be surrounded by mountains and grasslands, with no cell towers in sight. But there are two key stops with limited Wi-Fi: Driapuk Monastery Guesthouse and Dzultripuk Monastery Guesthouse. These are the main places to stay overnight during the kora, and their Wi-Fi is spotty at best. It might not work sometimes.
Finally, around Lake Manasarovar. There's no commercial Wi-Fi here—no restaurants or shops with public networks. A few local Tibetan family guesthouses might let you use their personal Wi-Fi if you ask nicely, but it's slow and often cuts out.

Conclusion
Our travel agency can book your stays in Darchen and along the kora at places with the most reliable Wi-Fi, so you have a better chance of staying connected when you need it.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
