As a special travel region in China, Tibet requires not only regular international travel documents but also specific permits for the plateau area. Basic International Travel Documents: Your Entry Key to China
Your passport is your primary ID here and must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from China. Most travelers need a Chinese visa (usually a tourist L visa), with entry validity and stay duration matching your itinerary. For example, if your visa allows a 30-day stay, ensure your total time in Tibet and China doesn't exceed that. Some countries enjoy visa-free entry to China, such as Singapore and Japan (15-day stay), so check if your country is on the list.
Tibet Travel Permit
Tibet Travel Permit is mandatory for international visitors. Without it, you can't take any transport to Tibet, check into hotels, or enter attractions.
