Best Travel Month to Tibet: September or October?
Both September and October remain prime times to explore Tibet. By that time, the rainy season is about to leave Tibet, and Tibet's autumn is gradually taking shape. Many tourists want to seize the tail end of the golden tourist season before winter officially arrives to enjoy the best travel experience.
The Middle and Late October Is the Period with the Least Tourist Flow
The period from mid-September to early October usually experiences a massive influx of tourists. This is mainly because of China's National Day on October 1st. On the contrary, the crowds will disperse from mid-October to late October after the Golden National Day. The second least crowded period is from early September to mid-September, as the summer vacation for Chinese students and teachers comes to an end at the end of August. Avoiding the crowds, you can enjoy a leisurely and pleasant journey, and some hotel resources and transportation resources such as train tickets and air tickets can be obtained more easily.

September Is Milder than October; October Is Drier than September
The average temperature in Nyingchi, which is located in a low-altitude area, ranges from 11℃ to 22℃ in September. However, it drops to 5℃ to 17℃ in October. The average temperature at the Everest Base Camp, which is located in a high-altitude area, is about 0℃ to 15℃ in September and -6℃ to 10℃ in October. All these data clearly show that September is the end of summer and the feeling is comfortable, while October officially marks the beginning of autumn, with a large temperature difference between day and night, and special attention should be paid to cold protection in high-altitude areas. Overall, the sunny rate is high in September and October. Precipitation in October will become very scarce, and there will be occasional snowfall in high-altitude areas.

October Is More Suitable for Trekking than September from Some Perspectives
The weather in October is stable with very little precipitation, which relieves tourists of their worries about muddy roads. In terms of scenery, the probability of witnessing the full view of Mount Everest or Mount Kailash increases in October. After all, there is less cloud and fog and the air is dry at this time. The increased visibility in the sky means that no matter whether you want to stargaze at Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake or the Everest Base Camp, you can capture the scene of the Milky Way falling from the sky.
However, you should be aware that the temperature will drop significantly by the end of October. Some trekking trails, such as the Mount Kailash trek, will close earlier due to unpredictable weather. Therefore, the most recommended time period is mid-October.

Tibet Tour Package Prices Dropped Significantly from Mid-October
I would like to say that traveling to Tibet from mid-October to late October is one of the most cost-effective periods of the year. From mid-October, the shoulder season for Tibet tourism arrives, and the weather is so favorable for everything. You can expect that the price of travel packages in mid-October will be about 10% lower than that in early October, and the airfare will also drop a bit.
Conclusion
As time moves forward to October, many plants turn golden yellow, which is quite appealing, but not as vibrant as in September. All the mentioned points are about giving up and gaining something.

We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
