You need to have a Chinese Visa and also a Tibet Travel Permit for a China Tibet tour.
You can apply for a Chinese Visa through the Chinese Embassy in your home country. Or you can get a Group Visa through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu if you plan to enter Tibet from Nepal.
As for the Tibet travel permit, you need to book an arranged trip in Tibet through a local travel agency, which will apply for the permit on your behalf.
To make things easier, if you book your China Tibet tour with us, we will handle all the required travel documents to visit Tibet, and assist you in getting your Chinese Visa.

2. Can I take a China Tibet tour without a visa?
Recently, more and more countries have been granted visa-free access to China. This makes it more convenient to visit both China and Tibet. If you are from a visa-free country, you can visit the mainland of China without needing a visa. However, you’ll still need a Tibet Travel Permit.
Simply provide a scanned copy of your passport after booking your China Tibet tour with us, and we will do the rest for you.
Please pay attention to the duration of your visa-free stay in China, ensuring that your entire China Tibet tour falls within this timeframe.
-
3. I already have a Chinese Visa, can I travel to Tibet with my Chinese Visa only?
No, you still need to apply for a Tibet travel permit. The Tibet Travel Permit is issued by the Tibet Tourist Bureau, which allows you to enter the Tibet Autonomous Region, either by land or by air.
If you already have a Chinese Visa, it is suggested to enter Tibet from the mainland of China instead of from Kathmandu. Because your former visa will be canceled once the group visa is issued in Kathmandu.
Make sure you have a Chinese Visa first, and then provide the scanned copies of your passport and Chinese Visa for the Tibet Travel Permit application.

If you don’t have enough time, it is easy to get to Tibet from most major inland cities by air. Chengdu has the most non-stop flights to Lhasa.
