Budgeting for a Mount Kailash Tour: Extra Travel Costs beyond the Tour Package
The group tour packages for Mount Kailash provided by our travel agency all try our best to include the essential services, such as transportation within Tibet, entrance fees for all scenic spots, service fees for tour guides and drivers, accommodation fees, and some meals. However, due to the different situations of each tourist, the budget for some contents also varies. To leave some room for free choice, there are some key costs not included in the package.
Transportation Costs to And out of Tibet
Almost all Tibet travel packages do not include the transportation costs to and from Tibet, which is also the largest additional expense you have to pay out of pocket. The two mainstream modes of transportation are planes and trains, or a combination of both. The most popular Tibet entry cities are Chengdu, Chongqing, Xining, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Xi'an, Kunming, Lanzhou, etc. Currently, only Kathmandu has direct non-stop international flights to Tibet. There are so many choices that it can be overwhelming. If you are struggling to make a decision, our travel agency can help you find the fastest or most cost-effective route.

Single-Occupancy Room Cost
Please note that the standard hotel rooms in all group tour packages are double standard rooms. This means that if you are the only one staying in this room and cannot find other group members to share the cost, you will need to pay the single room supplement. Since the group tours to Mount Kailash usually last for at least ten days, the daily accumulated single room supplement is also a considerable sum of money. For instance, for a 15 Days Kailash Pilgrimage Small Group Tour in July, the total single room supplement starts at 540 USD.
Cost of Upgrading Hotel Rooms
Some tourists prefer to choose viewing rooms or family suites, so there is a demand for upgrading hotel rooms. For this type of tourists, our travel agency is more than willing to help with the upgrade, and at the same time, the actual cost required for the upgrade needs to be charged.
Most Meal Costs
Most hotels included in the tour package provide breakfast, but breakfast is not included at the guesthouses when visiting the Everest Base Camp and Mount Kailash, so you need to pay for it yourself. Besides, there will be a welcome dinner and a farm lunch included in the tour package, and you can choose the rest of the meals freely.

Tips for Your Guide and Driver
Your Tibet trip will be inseparable from the strong support of your tour guide and driver throughout. If you are satisfied with their service and feel grateful, you can give them a tip at your own expense. This expense is entirely up to your will and is not a necessary one, so just follow your inner choice. The tip expense can be referred to as 7 USD per day, which is the combined cost of the tour guide and the driver.
Costs of Self-Funded Projects within the Scenic Area
When you visit Barkhor Street, you might want to rent traditional costumes for photos. When you visit Yamdrok Lake, you might want to take pictures with the domestic yaks. When you are at the Everest Base Camp, you might want to mail postcards at the world's highest post office. Before the Mount Kailash trek, you might want to hire porters and yaks to carry your luggage, and so on and so back. These are all additional expenses beyond your travel package.
Individual Travel Costs
The following are some common expenses that many tourists make during their trip in Tibet: buying souvenirs, snacks, oxygen cylinders, roaming services, local phone cards or mobile Wi-Fi, personal supplies and medicine-related items.
Permit Costs
Tibet Travel Permit is provided complimentary with your booking a Tibet tour. Other documents you need to come to Tibet include a Chinese visa, a passport, and if your planned destination is Nepal, you also need to consider the visa fee for Nepal. These are all at your own expense.

Conclusion
Although many expenses may seem small one by one, when accumulated, they will eventually become quite large. My suggestion is that you might as well give our travel consultants a rough figure and let the professionals estimate for you whether your entire budget can fully cover all aspects of this Mount Kailash trip.

Train booking
We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

Are the flights, visas, passes and permits included in your prices? Thank you kindly. plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
