Holy Lake Recommendations for a Tibet Tou
Tibet has at least a thousand lakes of various sizes. Then the following three sacred lakes are carefully selected from this wide range of choices, which are in line with most classic travel routes and habits of most tourists.
Yamdrok Lake
I put Yamdrok Lake (4,441m) in the first place because I suppose most tourists won't go wrong with this choice. From a religious perspective, Yamdrok Lake, as one of the three sacred lakes, is widely recognized by countless pilgrims as a Tibetan Buddhist holy place. Tibetan people have a long-standing custom of circumambulating these sacred lakes, and Yamdrok Lake is the typical choice for many believers to practice. In the Year of the Goat in the Tibet calendar, doing kora around Yamdrok Lake is also believed to double the merit accumulated. At that time, you can expect the grandeur of Yamdrok Lake to be unprecedented and unparallele.
From the perspective of sightseeing, Yamdrok Lake is equally brilliant. The beauty of Yamdrok Lake is a dynamic and flowing one. When at different times of the day and in different weather conditions, its colors take on a different look. Every tourist who comes here takes great pleasure in seeking out different angles and lights, but can only marvel at how each one is more beautiful than the last. The traditional villages by the lake, the lively pasture, the loneliest monastery standing on the island, the habitat of rare animals and other embellishments all make people realize that this is a vivid place with a very beautiful ecological environment.
One point I need to emphasize particularly is that Yamdrok Lake is only over 100 kilometers away from the urban area of Lhasa. A visit that goes and returns on the same day will not let you miss out on any shining points of this destination. Even if you only have as little as five days, you can still choose a 5-Day Lhasa and Yamdrok Lake Group Tour. It takes you to have a good time spending a few days in the Lhasa urban area and then have a one-day sightseeing visit of Yamdrok Lake.

Namtso Lake
I indeed start my recommendations in the order of distance from Lhasa, followed by Namtso Lake (4,718m). No matter how gorgeous a lake is, only when tourists arrive in a state of high spirits can they truly appreciate the beauty of a lake. Namtso Lake, also one of the three sacred lakes, is about two to three hundred kilometers away from Lhasa by car. This driving distance is within a reasonable range that most tourists can accept, allowing you to set off from Lhasa to visit the southern shore of Namtso Lake and return to Lhasa on the same day. Similarly, our travel agency rolls out a 5 days Lhasa-Namtso Lake for tourists with tight schedules, offering a panoramic view of the grandeur of Namtso Lake.
The religious significance of Namtso Lake is no less than that of Yamdrok Lake, and Namtso Lake also has an additional sense of a long history as the birthplace of ancient Zhang Zhung civilization. The first impression of tourists who come to Namtso Lake for the first time is that it is just too vast, as it is truly the second largest lake in Tibet. The lake water here is highly transparent, the wind is strong and the sunlight is abundant. These are its obvious characteristics. Another characteristic is that the southern and northern shores of Lake Namtso give people a completely different feeling. The southern shore is famous for the Tashi Peninsula and karst landform. On the northern shore, there are natural stone statues of the Holy Elephant Gate and cave rock paintings, offering a broad view. It is almost impossible to visit two lake shores in one day, so there must be gains and losses.

Manasarovar Lake
The last one of the three sacred lakes is Manasarovar Lake (4,588). The reason why it appears a little later in my article is that the driving distance from Lhasa to Manasarovar Lake exceeds 1,000 kilometers. Just this point alone has left many tourists with tight schedules having no choice but to skip it. Nevertheless, Manasarovar Lake has proved to so many tourist that it is completely worthwhile to travel a long distance here. In the remote Ngari Prefecture, with the sacred Mount Kailash by side, Manasarovar Lake is recognized by several important religions as having the supreme religious status, including Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism. Despite the harsh climate in Ngari Prefecture, the wetlands along Manasarovar Lake remain vibrant. Isn't this a natural wonder. The lake water here is so clear to mirror the distant lofty mountains, and everywhere is filled with the beauty of the primitive ecology. Visitors planning to visit Lake Manasarovar need to be prepared for at least two weeks of travel time. Since the vast majority of group tours include a three-day circumambulation of Mount Kailash.

Conclusion
Although I have visited these sacred lakes many times, I still lack those precise descriptions that can accurately convey those stunning scenes to you. I am convinced that only when you see them with your own eyes can you understand my feelings.

Train booking
We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
