Short-Distance Small Group Tibet Tour to Namtso Lake
Namtso Lake is larger in area than the combined area of Yamdrok Lake and Manasarovar Lake. In terms of altitude, Namtso Lake also ranks first among the Three Sacred Lakes with an altitude of approximately 4,700 meters. Surrounded by the vast and boundless Qiangtang Grassland, Namtso Lake is surrounded by natural pastures, where herds of cattle and sheep graze and it is also a habitat for many rare birds. In the Year of the Goat according to Tibetan calendar, pilgrims believe that the merit of doing kora around this lake is greatly enhanced at this time. A large number of believers walk around the lake by prostrating themselves for about two or three hundred kilometers, praying for blessings and spiritual elevation.

The Quickest Way to Get to Namtso Lake
Namtso Lake spans Lhasa City and Nagqu City. Considering the time cost and the convenience of transportation, tourists generally choose to travel from the Lhasa side to the southern shore of Namtso Lake. Compared with Nagqu, Lhasa has many direct flights without stopover routes connecting major gateway cities in China. In contrast, Naqu City currently has no civilian airport and the average altitude of the entire city is over 4,500 meters. Even in terms of train routes, this is the same case. If you want to take a train to Nagqu and then take a vehicle to Lake Namtso, you need to to transfer in Lhasa and then take a train ride of about 4 hours to Nagqu, and then drive for another 3 to 4 hours to reach Lake Namtso. Therefore, choosing to depart from Lhasa to Namtso Lake is a prudent decision that takes into account multiple aspects.

Join a Small Group Tour to Go for a Namtso Lake Tour
A group tour to Namtso Lake requires at least five days of planning. Three days are for adaptation in Lhasa, one day for sightseeing Namtso Lake, and the last day is the departure day, which is for leaving Tibet by the transportation of your choice.
3 Days in Lhasa
Almost all group tours to Namtso Lake start from Lhasa, and you can also take this opportunity to adapt to the plateau environment while appreciating Tibetan religious culture.
On the first day of arriving in Lhasa, there is no need to rush to complete the itinerary. Moreover, a group needs to wait until all the members are present before setting off. Therefore, no itinerary arrangements will be made for the first day.
The itinerary for the second day is to visit two of the Great Three Gelug Monasteries in Lhasa, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery, both of which are located within the urban area.
After two days of adaptation, you can climb the Potala Palace on the third day. This world-class palace complex, with 1,000 steps, reaching a height of 115 meters, stands on a hill, looking down upon the entire Lhasa City at 3,700m. Next, when visiting Barkhor Street and the Jokhang Temple, you will not only get up close with religious culture, but also immerse yourself in the social life of the local people.

1 Full Day Namtso Visit
On this day, you will set off from Lhasa to Namtso Lake. The round trip covers 500 kilometers and the total driving time is about 6 hours. On the way, you will pass through the Damxung Grassland and the Nagenla Pass, and finally reach the Tashi Peninsula. This island is the largest one near Namtso Lake. The Tashi Monastery, which was first built in the 12th century, is located upstream of the peninsula. Behind the monastery is a natural cave for meditation. The peninsula is composed of limestone, dotted with stone pillars, stone peaks and natural stone Bridges, offering a close-up view of the unique landform formed by the erosion of lake water. You can also interact with the yaks of the herdsmen around.
Conclusion
In addition to short trips, there are also intermediate and long-distance Tibet trips for you to choose from. Our travel agency offers a wide variety of options. What's your choice?

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
