Tibet's landscape features higher elevations in the northwest and lower terrain in the southeast. This dramatic topography gives rise to a wide array of climates. During summer, spanning from June to August, Tibet experiences a moderate temperature increase compared to other seasons. However, due to its high altitude, the region remains pleasantly cool, with average temperatures ranging from 8°C to 21°C, making it an ideal summer retreat. One of the most notable characteristics of Tibet's summer climate is the significant temperature variation between day and night. In some high-altitude areas, this difference can exceed 15°C. Additionally, summer marks the rainy season in Tibet, with most precipitation concentrated in July and August, particularly in southeastern regions such as Lhasa and Nyingchi. Across the region, the night-time rainfall becomes more frequent.

Regional Weather Breakdown in Tibet
Lhasa
As Tibet's capital city, Lhasa enjoys summer temperatures ranging from 12°C to 22°C. During the day, abundant sunshine warms the city, with highs reaching 25°C to 29°C, perfect for exploring iconic sites like the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple. However, as night falls, temperatures plummet, dropping as low as 5°C to 10°C, so packing warm layers is essential. Lhasa's summer days are predominantly clear or partly cloudy, offering extended hours of sunlight. But with this bright sun comes intense UV radiation. Tourists are strongly advised to apply high-SPF sunscreen, wear wide-brimmed hats, and use sunglasses to protect against sunburn.
Nyingchi
Nyingchi attracts many tourists with its mild and humid summer climate, where temperatures average between 15°C and 28°C. Lush vegetation and higher oxygen levels make it a welcoming destination, especially for first-time visitors concerned about altitude sickness. Frequent night-time rains are a hallmark of Nyingchi's summer. Waking up to fresh, post-rain air adds a magical touch to the travel experience. Scenic spots like the Lulang Forest Sea come alive with misty mountains and verdant landscapes, creating an otherworldly atmosphere.

Shigatse
Shigatse experiences cooler summer temperatures, ranging from 6°C to 18°C. Sunny days can bring warmth, with highs of 15°C to 20°C, but sharp drops at night require proper cold-weather preparation. With more rainfall than Lhasa and uneven precipitation patterns, carrying rain gear is a must. Popular attractions in the area include the Tashilhunpo Monastery and Mount Everest. Travelers heading to high-altitude locations like Everest Base Camp should be prepared for even colder conditions, packing heavy down jackets and windproof clothing.
Nagqu
Located on the northern Tibetan Plateau, Nagqu has an average elevation that contributes to its summer temperatures of 5°C to 20°C. The weather here is highly changeable, with rapid transitions between sunshine, clouds, rain, and even snow. In summer, Nagqu's grasslands burst into a riot of green, dotted with blooming wildflowers. The Qiangtang Grassland hosts a grand horse racing festival in July, drawing tourists from far and wide to witness this vibrant cultural event.
Ngari
In the Ngari region, summer temperatures range from 8°C to 15°C during the day but can plummet to 0°C to 5°C at night. Characterized by arid conditions and minimal rainfall, Ngari's intense UV rays make sun protection crucial. On the upside, its clear skies make it one of the world's best spots for stargazing. Majestic sites like Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar attract countless visitors, but they must come prepared with sunblock, moisturizers, and warm clothing to enjoy their trip comfortably.

Conclusion
Summer is approaching, bringing with it many major Tibetan festivals. I hope you can join us to experience the vibrant culture and spiritual traditions!

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
