How is the Accommodation Condition of Mt. Kailash Trek Trip?
Before your Mount Kailash Trekking adventure, you need to be aware that the accommodation conditions along the route are extremely limited. The terrain of the Mount Kailash region is rugged and mountainous with steep slopes. This challenging landscape makes it incredibly difficult to build and maintain luxurious accommodation facilities. Moreover, the area is located in a remote part of Tibet, far from major urban centers. As a result, the available accommodations are often simple guesthouses or basic shelters. While the accommodations are not luxurious, they actually provide a basic living environment for your smooth travel experience. I recommend embracing the simplicity of these accommodations as part of your adventure. It's a chance to disconnect from modern comforts and fully immerse yourself in the spiritual and natural beauty of Tibet.
Where to Live During the Mount Kailash Trek
The Driapuk Monastery Guesthouse is the place where you will stay on the first day of your Mount Kailash trek. Located near the sacred Driapuk Monastery, this guesthouse offers a rustic but rewarding lodging experience tailored for trekkers and pilgrims. Designed for budget-conscious travelers, accommodations feature shared dormitory-style rooms with simple and clean bunk beds and each bed is equipped with a electric blanket to combat the region's chilly nights. While there are no private showers, toilets are situated in a shared and small hut. You will have access to electricity during the limited period, and hot water is provided in shared kitchens for tea or instant meals. Food options are intentionally basic, with simple Tibetan staples and instant noodles, and you are encouraged to bring non-perishable snacks or self-cater using the shared cooking facilities. Note that, the lack of Wi-Fi might bring some inconvenience.
On the second day of your Mount Kailash kora, you will spend a night at Dzultripuk Monastery Guesthouse. Its accommodation conditions are actually similar to those of Driapuk Monastery Guesthouse. Both offer a rather simple and rustic stay experience. The guesthouse is a place where you'll share the space with fellow trekkers, creating a communal and friendly atmosphere. Each bed, though basic, is clean and equipped with an electric blanket. Just like the Driapuk Monastery Guesthouse, there is no shower facility here. The toilet is also located in an outdoor hut. However, you can enjoy a truly unique perspective of Mount Kailash.
Conclusion
While the accommodation options during the Mount Kailash trek are quite basic, our 15 Days Kailash Pilgrimage Small Group Tour offers a more comfortable experience for the rest of your journey. Except for the guesthouses along the trekking route, we have arranged star-rated hotels for you. For instance, in Lhasa, you will stay at the Gang-Gyan Hotel, a 4-star establishment that provides modern amenities and a comfortable stay. Don't hesitate to make an inquiry for your Tibet trip!
