Fly to Tibet by Fights Operated by Xizang Airlines
The only local airline in Tibet has been renamed from Tibet Airlines to Xizang Airlines since 2026. Its main business remains the same and still serves as an important bridge connecting main gateway cities in Xizang and between cities in Tibet. Up to now, this airline has accumulated a lot of credibility and word-of-mouth through years of high-altitude flight experience.
Main Flight Routes Operated by Xizang Airlines to Tibet
Flight Routes within Tibet
There are about 2 daily flights from Lhasa Gongga Airport to Ngari Kunsa Airport. This flight route has significantly shortened the distance between Lhasa and Ngari, reducing the journey that would take over 20 hours by car to just about 2 hours. The price of economy class is around 500 dollars. Besides, it still takes about 200 kilometers by car from Ngari Kunsa Airport to the small town of Darchen at the foot of Mount Kailash. In return, there are 2 daily flight from Ngari Kunsa Airport to Lhasa Gongga Airport.
Xizang Airline has greatly enhanced the convenience of transportation between Lhasa and Chamdo. There is a daily non-stop flight shuttling between Lhasa and Chamdo with a duration of 1.5 hours. The single economy class ticket price is around 300 dollars.

Flight Routes Connecting Tibet and Chinese Gateway Cities
You can expect there are many flights frequently operating from Chinese main gateway cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai and Xining to Tibet every day. You can find many direct non-stop flights or connecting flight as you wish.

Indispensable Documents for Flying to Tibet
Whichever airline you choose, Tibet Travel Permit, your passport and Chinese Visa are always on the must-have list to any Tibet trip. Our travel agency is committed to helping tourists simplify these procedures. Tibet Travel Permit is originally applied for by the travel agency on behalf of the tourists. As for your Chinese visa, a tourist visa is the most recommended. If you hold the work visa or student visa, you need to provide corresponding proof.

Conclusion
Although Xizang Airlines do offer some international flights, it doesn't have direct international flight between Tibet and cities abroad. Alternatively, there is a direct non-stop flight operated by Himalayan Airlines 3 times a week, which facilitates the transportation between Nepal and Tibet.

Train booking
We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

Are the flights, visas, passes and permits included in your prices? Thank you kindly. plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
