Take A Train to Tibet in Different Seasons
Trains to Tibet run all year round without a break. On one side, the scenery outside the train window varies with the four seasons. On the other side, there are many similarities among the differences. Top concern is always the cost. The price of a Tibet train ticket is fairly stable, slightly influenced by the high demand of peak season from June to August. No matter which season you choose to depart from, the stations along the way of the train to Tibet are fixed. In the same way, you will enjoy the same oxygen supplement system during the same section from Xining to Lhasa. Besides, the frequency of trains entering Tibet is roughly the same throughout the whole year. During peak seasons, some temporary trains may be added.

Take a Tibet Train in Spring
Spring in Tibet runs from March to May, which is exactly the shoulder season for tourism in Tibet. This also means that there aren't so many competitors competing with you to buy train tickets to enter Tibet. Even the most sought-after soft sleeper tickets seem within easy reach at this time. You can even buy the most convenient lower berth for comfortable movement. The scenery in March and April begins to show some signs of greenness, but some lake surfaces may still not have thawed from the ice. Keep in mind that the Labor Day from May 1 to 5 might hold you back from securing Tibet train tickets as a flock of Chinese people are on vacation.

Take a Tibet Train in Summer
Even if you set a clock and place an order as soon as the train tickets are on sale, you might still fail to obtain your preferred ticket. In this case, you will need the waitlist service and have to face the fact that there is a probability that even on the last day before departure, you still didn't get a ticket. This is a cruel situation in the peak season of Tibet tourism. July and August are the summer holidays of Chinese students and teachers, thus promoting a great demand for train tickets.
Take a Tibet Train in Autumn
When the autumn farewell towards the large crowds, it become easy to snap train tickets again. Pay attention to the National Day from October 1 to 8, during which you will find it so hard to strive for a ticket. The late September and late October are more recommended due to the cheap Tibet travel packages.

Take a Tibet Train in Winter
It's time that you can relieve your worries for Tibet train tickets and enjoy a quiet atmosphere. Even the scenery outside of the train window will be covered by snow, its charm won't be reduced at all. Additionally, the temperature system always keeps passengers in a warm state throughout the whole journey.
Conclusion
In my opinion, try to avoid the most popular periods to guarantee your Tibet train tickets one hundred percent if it's your ultimate goal of the journey.

Train booking
We are a group of 15 (perhaps 17) who need to take the June 8th 15:27 train from Xining to Lhasa. We need to book this soon so prompt reply would be helpful. We are getting our permits from an agent and should have them in 6-8 days.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
