Discover Pangong Tso: Tibet's Mysterious Border Lake
Nestled in the remote western edges of Tibet's Ngari Prefecture lies Pangong Tso. Stretching over 150 kilometers like a delicate blue ribbon draped between mountains and barren plains, Pangong Tso is no ordinary lake. What makes it rather extraordinary is its rare "one lake, two waters" phenomenon: the eastern part in Tibet remains fresh and clear, while the western section becomes progressively saline as it extends toward Indian-administered territory. This unique feature creates a striking visual contrast, almost like nature's own art piece.
A Paradise for Wildlife and Bird Lovers
If you're a nature enthusiast or birdwatcher, you'll be mesmerized by Pangong Tso's vibrant ecology. Every year from May to August, the lake becomes a temporary home to thousands of migratory birds, including bar-headed geese and black-necked cranes. Watching these graceful creatures against the backdrop of turquoise water and distant snowy peaks is an unforgettable experience.

Explore Ancient Rock Carvings and Local Culture
Around Pangong Tso, history whispers from the hills. Not far from the lakeshore, the ancient Rutog Rock Carvings tell stories of life dating back over a thousand years. These intricate carvings, etched by the hands of ancient nomads, depict hunting scenes, spiritual symbols, and daily life in a bygone era.

Stargazing and Serenity
While Tibet is famous for its "Three Holy Lakes," Pangong Tso offers something entirely different. It's less crowded, more remote, and carries a mysterious borderland charm. At night, the sky here transforms into a planetarium of stars—far from city lights, the Milky Way shines with unreal clarity.

Conclusion
Due to its border location, visiting Pangong Tso requires Tibet Travel Permit and Border Permit, which must be arranged through registered travel agencies, and our Tibet travel agency offers thoughtfully designed Pangong Tso tours that include permits, knowledgeable local guides, and eco-friendly arrangements.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
