Essential Permits for Flights to Tibet
Most travelers need Tibet Travel Permit to visit Tibet, and the only exceptions are Chinese passport/ID holders and Hong Kong & Macau citizens with Home Return Permit.
Some travelers ask, "Do I still need Tibet Travel Permit with a Chinese Tourist Visa?" The answer is yes, you absolutely need that first! Your Chinese visa is your entry into China, while the Tibet Travel Permit is your specific permission to enter the Tibet Autonomous Region. They are two separate, essential documents. You'll be asked to show your permit at the airport check-in counter before you even step foot on your flight to Lhasa.

No matter where you begin your journey, you must have your passport, Chinese visa and Tibet Travel Permit. On top of that, you'll also need to check the specific entry requirements for China, as some specific documents depend on your departure city.

Special Rules for Flights from Kathmandu
If you're flying to Lhasa from Kathmandu (Nepal), there's a little extra to know. First, you'll need that same Tibet Travel Permit, as well as your passport. But you'll also need a Chinese Group Visa instead of a Chinese visa, unless you are citizens from countries eligible for visa-free travel to China. And the visa is tied to your travel group. This group visa isn't the same as a regular tourist visa. You can't apply for it at a Chinese embassy on your own—your travel agency has to handle it, and you'll get this Chinese Group Visa in Kathmandu.

Conclusion
My advice is you should book your Tibet tour before buying a flight ticket. First, reach out to us to check your eligibility for applying for the Tibet Travel Permit—this step is non-negotiable for visiting Tibet! Then, we'll help you figure out exactly what the best departure date is, so you can avoid last-minute delays or unexpected emergencies.
Our travel agency offers free consultation to every tourist—no strings attached! Just give it a try. You might end up finding tips or answers that save you a ton of hassle later on.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
