How to Get to Tibet from Nepal by Road
Standing in Kathmandu today, you might be surprised to know that by tomorrow, you could already be breathing the crisp, high-altitude air of Tibet. Though the world's tallest Himalayas separate Nepal's capital from Tibet, the well-maintained China-Nepal Friendship Highway has turned this once-challenging journey into a convenient and scenic adventure. This road not only connects two distinct cultures but also lets you soak in jaw-dropping natural beauty along the way—something you'd miss if you chose a quick flight.

Why Choose the Overland Tibet Tour? Great Value for Your Money
Flying directly from Kathmandu to Lhasa typically costs around $400 per person—a significant expense that only covers the flight, with no extra benefits. But let's do the math: instead of spending that $400 on a single flight, you can join our 8 Days Kathmandu to Lhasa Overland with EBC Tour package for just over $1,000. This all-inclusive deal saves you far more than just the flight cost. It covers every essential part of your Tibet trip: the fee for your Chinese Group Tourist Visa (a must for foreign travelers entering Tibet), the Tibet Travel Permit (without which you can't enter the region), all overland transportation from Kathmandu to Tibet, and transport between Tibet's attractions. You'll also get accommodation, entrance fees to top sights, services of a driver and guide, and some traditional meals—everything you need to avoid the hassle of booking each part separately. When you add up what you'd pay for these items on your own, the package is a steal, letting you enjoy a seamless trip while keeping more money in your pocket.

What to Expect on the Overland Tibet Journey
On the first day of the tour, our driver will pick you up from your Kathmandu accommodation and start the 6-7 hour drive toward the China-Nepal border. Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of the Himalayas' southern foothills—snow-capped peaks rising above lush green forests, a sight that sets the tone for the adventure ahead. We'll stay overnight at a comfortable hotel in a border town, giving you time to rest before crossing into Tibet the next day. Once we reach Gyirong in Tibet, the real magic begins: you'll walk across the iron suspension bridge in the canyon, hike to a traditional Sherpa village to learn about local life, and explore the hidden beauty of Gyirong Valley—where snow-capped mountains tower over dense forests, creating a postcard-perfect landscape. Throughout the journey, a guide fluent in both Tibetan and English will be with you, sharing stories about the region's history, culture, and natural wonders, ensuring you don't miss a single detail.

Conclusion
With our Tibet tour, you save money, gain acclimatisation, and collect panoramas no airplane window can frame. Sunrise gilds Everest in private gold, butter-tea breaks in village kitchens become memories, and each mountain pass crossed earns a fresh postcard view. By the time prayer flags ripple above Lhasa, the journey has redefined your sense of distance, time, and wonder.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
