What Type of Socks Should You Wear in Tibet?
A pair of socks may seem trivial compared to ice-capped peaks and turquoise lakes, yet in Tibet they are the thin line between comfort and misery. At high altitude the sun bakes by day and frost bites by night; trails range from dusty Lhasa lanes to ankle-deep snow on the Everest approach. The right socks keep blood circulating, moisture moving, and blisters at bay. Below are some recommendations according to season and the type of travel you're planning.

Spring (March-May)
Pack mid-weight wool blends or breathable fast-dry socks. Bring two pairs each day: one on your feet, one drying on your pack after you've splashed through a stream of melted snow.
Summer (June-August)
Opt for synthetic moisture-wicking socks first, and take one more pair of light wool socks for the evening chill above 4 000 m.
Autumn (September-November)
Crisp air and gusting gales call for thick wool or light fleece socks. In remote corners like western Ali, consider layering: a thin liner under a heavier sock lets you peel off a layer when the afternoon sun suddenly feels like July.
Winter (December-February)
City sightseeing in Lhasa may only require a medium wool sock inside insulated boots, but venture toward mountain passes and you'll want double-layer or even battery-powered socks. Loosen laces slightly to keep blood flow from being strangled by tight fabric.
City Ramble—Lhasa, Shigatse, Nyingchi
Sidewalks are gentle, guesthouses have hot water, so choose medium cotton or thin wool for breathability. Skip ankle socks; exposed skin above the boot line catches the cold in the shade of ancient alleyways.

High-Altitude Day Trip—Namtso, Everest Base Camp
Even in July, the wind at 5 000 m can numb toes. Pull on thick wool socks that rise above the boot collar to prevent chafing. Pack an emergency synthetic pair in case a surprise snow flurry soaks your feet.
Multi-Day Trek or Pilgrimage
Your feet become your engine. Invest in trekking socks with reinforced heel and toe, flat seams, and zoned cushioning. Carry at least two spares: rotate daily, rinse in a stream, and clip to your pack to dry while you walk. A liner-plus-outer combo cuts friction and adds insulation.

Winter Photography & Snow Play
Slip into soft cashmere socks or heated socks. Ensure the fit is roomy; tight elastic bands can turn a cozy layer into a tourniquet.
Conclusion
Balance insulation, moisture management, and blister prevention for your socks. When in doubt, add an extra pair rather than risk a frozen toe.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
